Aaron's Chess Cast

Friday, September 01, 2006

Hi, as you obviously know I have not updated the site recently this is because I've decided to discontinue Aaron's Chess Cast. Hopefully, I will resume it in about one year when I'll have achieved a title. The name might be changed so be aware of that. If you still need to ask me any chess questions feel free to I'll still have the same email adress : chesscaster@gmail.com or if you are wondering about when it will be resumed you can ask me by sending me an email too. I hope everyone learned something from these tutorials. Thanks Aaron

Endgame Question

To win an endgame with a non rook pawn (one that is not on the a or h files) you have to put your king in front of your pawn with the opposition. Opposition is where your kings are "face to face" and if you have it it is your opponents move. In this way their king must give way and let you slowly march up the board to their defeat. Lets say white has a pawn on e2 and a king on f2 black has a king on e5. It is white's move. 1. Ke3 Kf5 2. Kd4 Ke6 3. Ke4 keeping the opposition. Feel free to ask questions. ( chesscaster@gmail.com) Thanks - aaron

Review 3

Hello, I hope everyone had a good valentine's day. Sorry about the delay of the review. Also, for some reason it is really quiet. I'll speak louder on Tutorial 4. It is called Review 3 because it goes with Review 3. Keep in mind notation ALWAYS goes from white's point of view, never black's. Plus, REMEMBER when you play the bottom white square ALWAYS has to be white. From now on I'm planning to animate my podcasts to make them easer to watch.
By the way this is the exact deadline when I said podcasts should be coming out with in the next 2-4 weeks this is the four week deadline :). It is very short, I know, it is for two reasons.

1. Notation is something you either get or don't get. (if you have extra questions about it email me chesscaster@gmail.com)

2. I'm working on the animation so the podcast looks cooler and better.

Don't worry though, the next podcast will come out sooner than this one did (less than 4 weeks). It is going to be about tactics. Thanks to everyone for making Aaron's Chess Cast a sucess, and I hope everyone is learning. Thanks again.

Tutorial 3

Hi eveyone, I actually think this is one of my best podcasts. Remember questions are welcome at chesscaster@gmail.com. Also, one more additional note if you happen to be reading a chess book and lets say it shows you a diagram and it says 5.... a7-a6 that would mean it is black's turn not white's because of the ..... if it was whites move it would say 5. then a move. Of course white could never move a pawn backwards... Also you don't always need to write the starting square of a piece you could say at the beginning of a game 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 like that. See how I didn't right 1. e2-e4 e7-e5 2. Ng1-Nf3 Nb8-c6 3. Bf1-b5 a7-a6. I could write that but its much quicker to do it the other way. This is a lot of information it's okay if you don't get it at first, you'll get the hang of it. Also keep in mind this is a great way to familiarize yourself with the board. Trying to play games in your head will probably help your game.

Especially because you can look ahead at sacrifices or other surprising moves possibly leading to the defeat of your opponent. One more thing, I think I'm going to make these podcasts shorter, but they would come out often. Also this way it would be less annoying to listen to them because after 20 or so minutes I know it might get irritating. Thanks!!!

Ps next podcast will probably be simply a review, the week after tactics so you can play better. Tactics help you win material therefore leading to the defeat of your opponent. Also play people better than you. And to learn more about tactics simply watch that podcast coming soon ... thanks again - Aaron

In The Works

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about this blog... Actually I wanted to tell everyone that new tutorials should start coming up every 2-4 weeks or so. And like always please feel free to ask me any question about chess through email my email adress is chesscaster@gmail.com thanks again! - Aaron

P.S. Is there a way to put a poll on this website? Thanks. (if you know the answer please send to chesscaster@gmail.com) Also, I'm probably going to be extremely busy over the next few weeks sorry to let everyone down, but I'll get on the next tutorial ASAP. Thanks :)
